How to take your measurements
Four essential rules, before returning to the calculator.
- 1.Measure to the solid, not the visible edge. For a face with stairs, measure to the stringer (where it will be fastened), not to the beginning of the step.
- 2.Always measure both opposite sides, even if they seem identical. Decks are rarely perfectly symmetrical, and half an inch makes a difference on the cut.
- 3.Verify the permitted height with your municipality before choosing 44", 72" or 96". The rule varies depending on use (deck, pool, fence).
- 4.Count the number of gate openings you need — each requires a specific Gate Frame Kit.
